While earnings season swings into high gear, this portfolio manager finds this season to be “fairly benign” in comparison to current expectations for the fourth quarter.

“It’s all about how that outlook sounds from management commentary, particularly given that we’re now into an easing cycle. So we’d be watching out for commentary [from companies] around what they expect to be doing in terms of CapEx investment activity as interest rates come down,” PineBridge Investments global multi-asset portfolio manager Hani Redha tells Yahoo Finance. “And at the same time, also getting a sense of the health of the consumer.”

Redha finds the bar to be “fairly low for this particular earnings season” with earnings growth being “fairly modest,” while forecasting growth to improve in the current quarter and into 2025.
